Ended my silver drought last night. Went to one of my favorite curb strip spots within the city hoping to dig a few more keepers before the snow flies. Ground conditions were perfect with damp soil but not too muddy. Had a classic 29-30 signal on my Nox and dug this 1854 seated quarter. Although only about 5" deep, it was way off to the side of the hole and I had to expand it which I found unusual for such a target. I typically run sensitivity at 24-25 so it was probably too hot for these damp soil conditions.
It's counterstamped with 'F. YAGER." At first, seeing the backside I thought I had an aluminum token.... then I saw the eagle and thought 'Barber!!!' Dirt clung to the face, so I was really thrilled when I discovered it was a seated quarter!
