My buddy and I went artifact hunting and found an old home site in the field so we got the detectors Just in time to be caught in the middle of a terrible downpour! We kept detecting after it let up and he yells out he had a coin...Indian head penny, i'm still checking this signal and start yelling"No Way" and he comes over in time to see me clear away some mud to reveal the Eagle! Not as nice as my first plate but wow... a second plate!

Nice plate. I remember finding my first 1851 SWB plate in a U.S. CW cav. camp like it was yesterday. Keep looking-may be a # 3 there or eagle buttons at least. HH, Quindy.

Awesome!!!There sure is a lot of them showing lately!!

Thanks for all the comments! I am just awestruck to have found Any belt plates, but to find two in Ohio makes me speechless!
They were about 25-30 miles between this site and my first...there was a couple Union training camps in the Monroeville area though.
Hoping to go some areas in the South next summer to do some hunting... if anyone has a hunt planned please let me know!
Thanks, Troy

You lucky devil! Man, that's great!

Congrats on your 1851 SWB plate Troy! :notworthy:

Sounds like you've found a great site there . . . maybe a CW camp? ???

Dave

I will have to search it more but I don't think it's a camp. Looks like an old homesite .
Hopefully I will get back there soon to find out!
