I found 2 pennies, 1968 and 1979 and a dime that I cannot read the date on. Do dimes rust? How can I make it all shiny again? I rinsed the chump change off with plain water. And more junk of course :) Some twistie ties on the surface. Thanks for looking!

Rust, no. But they do discolor, which I suppose is a form of oxidation.

where did you hunt? I see you live in Florida. Beaches are a great place to hunt, the busier the better. You will find a lot of stuff, lots of junk, change, and occasionally some really good stuff, just hitting the towel line and common spots which you can do with any detector.

Looks like most of the stuff I dig up:)
U just gotta get the coil over the good stuff.
Looks about right though just keep digging and you'll find some awesome things. U always get lots of garbage until u clean out the ground than u can find the better older stuff :)

Happy digging:)

I am still hunting in my back yard :) I am hoping to get around an area where the public visits very soon! I am still getting a feel for metal detecting and today I certainly have gained some confidence when it comes to sounds and finds. I am literally on top of a garbage pit. I actually dug coins out of the ground today! I am so happy about that :)

They say it takes over 100 hours for you to get used to your detector keep it up. I'm sure you'll love this hobby

Nice congrats!

You did better in your back yard than I did in my son's Friday! I got ONE, count 'em O-N-E Lincoln penny! Nothing else! Not even junk! I did see a freshly dropped pull tab, figured I'd let it settle in, then at lest I know there'd be "something" to hunt for next time.
Never thought I'd miss the trashy school grounds! Goes to show, appreciate what you've got, cause you'll miss it when it's gone!
Sunday i'm gonna search a Sidewalk tear out that's been refilled but I'm sure at lest I will find something!
I know the relatives keep a clean house but, sheeeeeze! Come to think of it there were no Mosquitos...in a back yard surrounded by woods!.....who are these people??????????

Nice nail polish by the way.

Great finds (and feet)! :) Thanks for sharing...

yep, those blue toe nails sure stand out, one quarter and one penny yesterday for me around a pond.... now the trash, well that's a different story.

Nice congrats!

Thanks! I love the color too! :) I am going to be heading to a shoreline today and try this thing out in some shallow salt water. Something tells me that I am going to find more crap in that water than I am on land, which is infuriating, BUT exciting LOLOLOL. I feel like a split personality disorder case! :)

there is some really good stuff in the water, you may be pleasantly surprised

Dimes discolor, and corrode. Try soaking them in hot vinegar, or lemon juice, with salt and that might help clean them up.
