Second Old Button From High School

I go into work for 5pm, I was a little early so I stopped at the local high school
to detect for a half hour and my first target was a small flat button.
I cleaned the crud off the back and could very clearly see the words "Rich Gold Color"
and possibly a floral design opposite the words but its hard to tell.
The front seems to be blank I found the button about five feet from one of the many
old stone walls in our town. I also found a hand full of clad.
Anyone have an idea how old it might be.

looks like it is some type of uniform button ??? still cool looking
 

Try tracing over the letters with a pencil and paper, you may be able to read it better. Too bad the face is so damaged.
 

What you have there is a typical "flat button" from the first half of the 1800s. Any place you find those you should do some more searching. The "Rich Gold Color" is the quality mark.
