This past spring Lisa and I had the opportunity to dig at a field that turned out to be a very good site . We've waited all summer for the high temps to give way and the field to be plowed. Saturday was our day to get back out there. We were extremely excited to see what we may have left behind the last time. We had walked that field for two days on the first hunt and dug stuff up till we just didn't have any more positive signals left. (That, and we were exhausted! :P ) The area we could get to both times is/was limited to a small area, but we had found some exciting items. With the field being freshly plowed, my thoughts were that there would be more keepers to be found.

We get out the gear and get to hunting. There was pottery and glass everywhere, but first couple of hours neither one of us has anything to speak of. By the end of the day, I had found a few pieces of melted lead, another Horstman Bros button back and a few other little buttons, a pocket knife and a little decorative brass what's it and other little bits and pieces. Apparently the first time around we had found most all that was going to be found there. :D We hope to get back there this winter when we can expand our area of hunting.
Not as many finds as the first time around, but I had a great time kicking off the fall hunt season! I'll add these to my collection from that site.

Nana~ :hello:

Is that big silver looking piece in the last picture marked? Hurray for the fall detecting season!

No, 1/2. This piece isn't marked, but it's silver. I was told that it's a matchbox. It's missing the top half.

Hurray for fall! :icon_thumright: I'm ready!

Nana? :icon_scratch: Hmmmm, Nana? :icon_scratch: I used to know someone on Tnet that detected a long time ago in Bama.
Couldn't be the same Nana could it? :dontknow:
I about passed out when I saw a post from you finally young lady. :hello2:
Glad to see you made it out. Was this the place that Lisa's hubby dug the buckle last year?

-Dug-

It's been a long HOT summer. :-X :D Hurray for fall, eh?
Yes, this is the same site. No buckles this weekend tho. :dontknow:

The silver thing is sweet.

I know you already know this but

that field is hot. You know theres

a coin or 2 still hiding out.

Makes you wonder what happened to the front of that button. Nice Hunt.

What no Alabama tax token? I guess I will just have to wonder over there one of these days and help you out. :D

Burdie

Great saves there Nana! Im glad to see you got out and look forward to more.

This is a really interesting piece of silver and a great find Nana! :hello2:

I'd love to have seen it when it was new!

You ladies had a good hunt. As I have told you, stick with that site because it's so thick there that a camp could be hiding in that vegetation. Try to find the rest of the silver box. It's very cool. Don't be a sissy, get in those woods with those snakes-LOL. HH, Q.

Congrats Nana on a beautiful find! Looks like a match box to me and with a very nice Script letter on the front, Awesome and way to go! :hello2:

Nice pictures and nice finds.... makes me want to go! Did you know you have a rowel off of a spur? That alone is a good find as they are really hard to get these days. Tennessee digger

you really are deadly with that MXT, congrats on the finds. the cold will come soon enough so you can play where the snakes are hiding. LOL

LOL, and don't forget the mosquitoes, ticks, no-see-ums, and chiggers either! We wouldn't want you to go home without a few bites! :laughing7: I'm so ready for Fall weather. GREAT hunt Nana! I'd like to see a few close up pics of the thingie at the bottom of pic #2 & #4. Breezie

I love those old relics Nana! It makes you wonder what was on the front of that Horstman doesn't it? :dontknow: Wait for a good rain, and hit it again. I can never get any good conductivity on fresh plowed field. It's always after a good rain I find the good stuff it seems.

Take care my friend

Thanks, Deno. :) The coins must have had an extra special hiding place, cause I sure didn't find them. :P :D I found the silver box the first time around at this site. Here's the link of what was found this spring:

Thanks 804. :) I DO wonder! I found several of those button backs at this site. One of my goals was to find the fronts. Not to be this time around tho. :-\

:D No, no tax tokens here Burdie. I think this place was long gone by the time tax tokens came around. BUT...I did find two at today's spot. :D

Thanks, Jimmy! :)

Thanks, Dave! Me too!

Brad...I can wait. Nana don't like the timber rattlers very much. Those things are monsters! :-X We'll get back when they are gone. :icon_thumright:

Tenn Digger... Up until this morning I thought I had a rowel off a spur. :D Quindy was curious about the fact that it had a square hole in the center. I sent him some pics and he sent them to a couple of friends to get their take on it. They didn't think that's what it was. Here's the pics...Thanks!! :)

Thanks, Mike! Yes, it does! And that field had a good rain on it the night before we got there. :-\ We were expecting a lot more than we found. :dontknow: Well...except the ants. Those darn things were busy building hills and we were busy trying to stay out of their way. :-X :D
Thanks again!
Nana :hello:

Congrats on the finds. And on finding a wife that actually goes out MD'in with you. All I get when I go out is, "why are you doing that you got this to do, that to do the list never ends."

No, no tax tokens at this site, Rob....but I did find two at another site this past week. :tongue3: :D Tiki bar got delayed for this season. I'm sure it'll be open next spring. :icon_thumright: ;D

Thanks, TNDigger! :)

Thanks, Ted...but I are the wife. :D And I don't mind at all if I wanna go huntin'.
