IMG_0109.webp On Sunday Sue and I hunted an old school that we hunted the week before. Finds for the day was 91 coins worth $10.69. Nickels were the most common find of the day...….27 of them.

Nice job. Thats a lot of digging !

My record is 99. I didn't count them until I got home or I would've gone for an extra! Congrats. I know from personal experience how tired you are. :icon_thumright:

Tired after the hunt was over? You betcha'...……...at age 72 my stamina isn't what it once was but when you're digging something you always find another ounce of energy to keep you going.

Well, I have a new car so I'll just blow it all on silver coins at the end of the hunt season.

nice finds
Thanks....

Definitely fun...….Thanks

Congrats! I had a school that had an abundance of nickels in the past. Probably the change from the lunch price back in the day.

Can I ask what year the school house was from? I have one on our property and I’ve only found toys, and a ring from a swingset. No coins, a lot of nails from the roof coming off? I just figured they they brought their lunches. Mine was in use fin the 20’s & 30’s

VERY NICE! Lots of quantity for one location!

Kace

youze just gitten' warmed up :tongue3:-------let us know when you break the $100 mark--- then keep diggin'

schools are also known to have silva, relics, bling, rings & more. :laughing7:

gots ta clear away the crappy clad to see the goodies :metaldetector:

mommy, I need more money :BangHead:--- I threw away what you gave me yesterday :laughing9:

I'll bet the culprit was 20-cent milk. Kids paid with a quarter, and everyone was running around with nickles in their pocket. :laughing7:

Ah, the good old days.

Thanks Kace…….not too shabby for sure

The date the school was built was 1953. Back in the 20's and 30's it's most likely the kids didn't have any money to bring to school and brought their own lunches so no money was in their pockets to lose. OR it's possible that your school has been hunted to death before you started there.

I agree, some schools are high in quarters, some in dimes, and a few in nickels. depends on what coins they were getting in change.

Do you want to know when we break the $100 barrier at that particular school or when we break the $100 barrier for the year? We broke the $100 barrier for the year way back in the spring. and yes, those schools have a lot of other stuff too. If pencil eraser tips were coins I'd be rich.

Wow ! 20cents for milk??? I'd be giving away my age if I said that milk was 3 cents when I went to school.

Who says you can't get rich with this hobby!!

pencil erasers:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:
avg. per school is $100 to $200+ in crad, 10 silver bling & 10 silver coins
many a deep target from 2 centuries & older--- repeat--- youze just sniffin' at the easy pickins fur now:laughing9:

Great find and fun, I agree with above, it was 3cents for me too haha

Nice bunch of clad. Congrats

Nice finds! :icon_thumleft: That's a lot of digging!

That’s some hard work there. Congrats on all the finds.
