How about some of your best CW finds from Kentucky.

All dug on private land with the owner's permission.

Not in any specific order...

1. Three Washington Arsenal star based bullets from a Yankee camp.

2. Fresh dug 6# Bormann spherical case shot from outside Perryville.

3. A 54. Gardner, 6 .69 minnies and 3 musket balls from a Reb camp.

4. Pewter canteen spout with initials carved in it from a Yankee camp.

5. Front/back of my second US belt plate found in a Yankee camp.

These were all found at different locations in 2004-2005.
Don't spend all your time chasing the allure of one site. Do your research, get permission and find stuff.

The best time for hunting is during the next month and a half while the grass is still low, it's cool and the snakes and bugs aren't at full swing.

Whatchu got?

Dang Wild One! I was ready to post my finds until I saw your pics! :'( Stop flexing all that muscle!

You know I'm a CW idiot, I proved that already, so please don't laugh at me.....I am in awe of your Star bullets....I have never seen/heard about them....I would give up half of my testosterone to find one of them. No doubt they are special.

My appreciation to you for having the balls to make this post! Thanks again for putting me on an awesome site Sunday!

Washington Arsenal Bullets

They are not all that special.

I believe they were issued to troops more often in the Eastern Theater. Those found around here were probably from troops that passed through central Kentucky. Lots of eastern troops passed through Camp Nelson on the way south to Knoxville, Chattanooga and Vicksburg. NY's, PA's, RI's for sure, maybe even NJ's and MA's.

Neither my buddies nor I find these very often. Most of what you find are field cast or from a different armory.
