Self portraite and small creek

These were taken on near the willamette pass in the Oregon cascade mountains.

I always use the cameras timer for shutter release on the slow shutter speed pics. I only had 10 seconds to get in position and try to be still for a couple of seconds. Mainly did it to show scale of the area. ( I may be responsible for some of the Bigfoot rumors )

The two creek pics are a different stream nearby. These were about 3 second exposures, and as you can see any little bit of wind can cause the vegetation to be blurred.

I am no expert, but I have learned that for these types of pictures that I don't even try in sunlight or partial sunlight. I like to shoot these before sunrise, after sunset, in dark canyons that are completely shaded or on cloudy days when the light is even. A tripod is a necessity.

I don't know anything about your camera, but if you have a manual mode, I would use manual, and the lowest ISO setting you have, and your cameras timer for shutter release.

ISO 100 IS low but, whatever works. I'm just in the beginning stages of learning this thing. I was surprised at it even having a setting for fireworks. I've seen some wildlife pics taken with a Canon EOS that were just spectacular but they were paying like $800 just for the zoom lens. Little spendy for me but, I can see where folks would want them if they're really into it.
