I went out for a couple hours this afternoon at my Seminole war fort site and a yard that I’ve recently found dragoon buttons and drilled shank buttons. I was surprised to pull this up. It reminds me of a seal but the glass or stone is not engraved. It maybe a pendent since there a hole at the top for adornment? The body of it is brass and maybe interpreted as a styling cross. That’s for looking and any ideas you may have.

Looks like a seal fob to me. U sure its not a mans face with a curly pony tail on it? Or am I seeing things.

That’s a pretty cool find

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Yes its a seal fob, the type that would hang off the chain of a fob watch. Although the seal could be used to wax seal a letter, much of it was just bling/showing off. (you had money) Some of the stone/glass inserts were blank, others had various designs, some family crests, some generic choices (to make it look like you came from a well heeled family)
