Seminole War Musket Barrel?

Hey guys need your help on this one. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I got back To my Seminole War camp around 11 o clock. I’ve been trying to dig some iron signals lately. My first signal was a strong iron signal under this huge pine tree.
The distal portion appears to be about a 54 caliber size and the other end has no opening but these connecting portions. It’s only about 2 and a half feet long and the entire piece is hollow to near the proximal end. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Looks like a gun barrel to me. Maybe from a carbine rather than a musket based on the length.

Oh yeah, that has the right lumps and bumps to be percussion barrel alright.
It has the tang sticking out where it would have been fastened to the stock and a bolster for the percussion nipple, plain as day. Nice save !

Sound like your suspensions of it being a barrel is coming along well.

Now a bit of restoration work needs to be done-the big ?? on which way.

,54 suggests rifle rather than muskets which have larger bores. But of course the rust could have filled it in to make it appear smaller than it originally was.

I hunted for a few more hours after finding the gun barrel and found a dragoon button and a silver acorn pendant similar to one I found a couple months back.
