I went to the same old park I've been hunting lately and got a religious medallion, buffalo nickel, Indian, crotal bell, marble and some clad. I got the marble in the same hole as the Indian but it was quite a bit shallower. The Indian was right under a root. The medallion read quarter at about 8 inches in coin/jewlery mode but after I was down several inches I figured it couldn't be a quarter. After about another 3 or 4 inches deeper is where the medallion was.

I believe 1830 is the date of the Marian apparition pictured on the medal.

Great finds, Giant! :icon_thumleft: I love the crotal bell.

Yes the 1830 date is on all of those medalions as it was the date of the sighting.
Nice digs. Isn't the ground bone dry?

Not in this park, it's very low land and not very far from the Kalamazoo river. After all the rain during August if you went detecting in this park you'd be a muddy mess after about 2 hours here. Really easy digging too, really black dirt, the kind you plant celery in. What I can't figure out is how many of the coins I've retrieved from this place are in such good shape, there's another spot I've gone with the same type of soil where the older copper gets super corroded but not here as you can tell by the Indian.

Here's after only a couple hours in olive oil and a little bit of toothpick work and soapy toothbrush
