We spent the first hour & a bit on some set-a-side, it was very overgrown & with only 1 scrappy showing we moved on.

The next field was ploughed up bird cover, on the edge of a Roman Site. We managed 8 coins & in a nearby field I plucked out a shortcross hammered quarter.

Roman Pot Shards
9 Roman Coins
13th C Buckle
Roman Bronze Bead
Hammered Qrter

4 hours 15 minutes total & an OK result for this point of the year!

Different patina than most of your other roman coins? And with that cut hammered a really good day for almost mid may! :icon_thumleft:

Very nice, as usual. That cut silver is sweet! GL&HH.

A good day for where you hunted. Roll on harvest though!!

The red hue (iron) comes from the very wet ground that the coins were found in. Its a spring on the side of a hill.

Always incredible history. Nice digs.
