Went back to the 1860's house and found two coins in the 1 1/2 hour there. First dig was the 2 Cent piece(first of the year) at about three inches. Coin looked better before I cleaned it, but going to give it a bath in the olive oil, but not going to give it much hope. Second and last coin was the 1875 Shield Nickel, also the first of the year. Both coins were found around the area that were stables! Made a detour to a Park in Ohio I've hit before and found a first for me, the ring has emeralds, two are missing as well as a small diamond. I've already had the stones checked and the diamonds real, emeralds natural, and for $160 I can replace the stones, and have the two stones that are loose fixed as well. I know its nice, but not sure I want to spend the bucks. Going to get it appraised, then figure what to do. This is gold ring #25!

Good looking finds fellow Hoosier!

Are you finding all of these gold rings with your Explorer? If so, where are they hitting on your smart screen? The other day I tested about a dozen gold rings on mine and they all hit at the very bottom, even below where a nickel hits. Are the ones that you are finding in the ground hitting in about the same place?

Gorgeous ring! Congrats on a great find!

That's a awesome ring, just an idea if you can return to that spot and remember around where you dug it and sift the dirt I bet you will find the stones. A good tip , if you ever find another and notice the stones missing, you can even grab a few handfuls of dirt and take it with you and sift it at home.....

Many rings on the smart screen I've found this year I've not dug before, they are hitting bottom center and up to half the box off the screen. I've also noticed they don't move much like a pull tab, more like a nickel to me. Sounds play a big part too because they have that "nickel" sound on the Explorer. I've also pulled a couple that hit like a nickel as well. Out of 25 gold rings I'd say 12 were found with the Explorer and the rest found with the Ace 250!! I'm about ready to head back to the Old Park in Muncie and see if I can pull a piece of silver there!!

That's the sweetest 7cent's I've ever seen Jack.....Like most of my unreadable LC's( which include's all of them),you can read them when they're fresh out of the ground but the first instant you try and clean them....Bam!!,they turn to crap, glad you still had the date's.....The ring is Great,Good Luck with that one whatever you choose to do.....

Thanks for the info about where they hit. I will have to continue digging those signals and see what turns up.

I just ordered the new 11" Pro coil and will probably head back up to Muncie this fall and go to my spots in the parks that turned up a lot of coins and see if the new coil can't find anymore goodies being hidden within the iron. Good luck to you when you head up there. There are still lots of spots that I never got to in those giant parks.

Ok too bad , I know a lot of times they are there as people don't wear them with missing stones....At least I don't think they do lol

Hate that too, pull a nice big copper, nice color, seems to have detail and its just a shame when most lose detail!!

I thought the same thing, but if those stones were there, then I just missed them, and it might be worth the trip just to check around the area I dug!!

Congrats on that very nice ring! The shield, and 2 cent piece are great finds. I would like to find some old coins like that.

That stuff's not too shabby. . .

Nice hunt!

I don't see why you can't?? Research is a good tool to finding old coins, check many of these TNet posts and you see people post that by doing a little research it lead them to some nice coins. Every large city has an old Park, many smaller towns have Parks as well! One good thing about this hobby is that every dig might be the surprise you want. Just dig those deep iffy signals and there might be alot of junk, but might also be a nice piece of silver hiding there too!!
