enjoy these buttons -- there are several --one is a C & J Weldon CHEAPSIDE LONDON --- livery BUTTON WITH A "family crest type" of germanic type origin (note john rugheimer* was from bavaria and his profession was listed as tailor during the census after the civil war )---another is a FIRMIN & SONS 153 STRAND LONDON --- CSN button civil war era --- two are JOHN RUGHEIMER SONS --- state of carolina state seal buttons (rugheimer was a famous confederate blockade runner) ---one is a PETTIBONE MF'G CINCINNATI -- Union ARTILLERY BUTTON --- one is a small drooped wing naval button back marked waterbury button co --- the last a black "hard" rubber backed naval button of the drooped wing design with no back marking of any type --- if any of these are of interest to you let me know --- Ivan

these are my personal buttons -- the wife helped me scan them via her computer so I can share them with you sorry but scans are hard to do with "rounded button faces" --- Ivan

yes indeed they are --from what I can gather they were part of a wealthy mans personal jewelry "collection" --most likely he had the buttons made into french style cuff links back in the 1950's when it was "fashionible" to do so (this was very commonly done back in the 50's)---the old man died --- his rather well dressed grandson was cashing in grandpas coin collection at a coin shop where I was at getting a coin to round out my type collection --- these buttons were with a bunch of very high quality coins --- which the kid was dumping for mere pennies on the dollar --- the kid said to the coin dealer are you interested in this stuff --the coin dealer said the coins yah but I don't deal with buttons -- after the dealing was over as the kid was leaving with a check for about $10,000 bucks --- the dealer "reminded" the kid hey don't forget your buttons -- the kid said "you keep em" --- and walked out -- well I walked over saw them and asked what do you want for them (since the coin dealer got just them for "free" and had no real "interest" in the he sold them to me ) --- I think I did very well overall --- Ivan

the guy is a coin dealer who mostly deals with "modern" bullion type american silver and gold coins and old silver and gold american coins --- I buy a few coins there now and then--- (the dealer often buys whole collections at bulk price for the lot --he then sorts them out --- he throws just about every foreign coin he gets (except for the plainly noticible high dollar old foreign silver ones) into the "scrap" box --10 cents or 12 for a buck-- I often cherry pick the scrap box and have found some real honeys there ( 1724 king george the 1 half penny and a number of silver dime coins --- phillipines 1944 and british 1906 silver sixpence in great shape--not bad for 10 cents huh )----I chat coins with him often and he kinda likes me and says I'm very knowledgible about coins in general esp foreign ones --- and since he just made out like a bandit on the coins the kid had brought in he was in a good mood ---plus he gotten the buttons for free so any he made money was "100% pure profeit" --- the coin dealer most likely used the money he got from the buttons for a very nice lunch or two.

it was simply being at the right place at the right time and having the knowledge to know what I was seeing --- Ivan
