We couldn't get out Saturday because of the rain, & our below average hours for January reflected the terrible weather we have been having.
We are back to the usual routine of The Potato Field in the morning & the Sewage Site in the afternoon.
Half of The Potato Field is practically flooded & a no go, & we are now covering areas we have gridded in the past but have showed good results.
We always hope The Potato Field will throw up a hammered after 3 hours gridding but not today. So we were pretty sure today would be our first back-to-back no silver day.
However, I got one on the first run on the Sewage Site & in a previously blank area, so that increased the hope. We decided to finish on the 4 hour point, instead of the usual 5 hours so as not to push our luck with Cru'dads knees in the super sticky mud. Then I got a hammered on the last run.:laughing7:

The Potato Field:
Neolithic Flint
17th C Spur Buckle
2 Lead Cloth Seals
Tudor Strap-end
Mystery Medieval Thingy
3 Lead Tokens (1 on the Winter Stubble Field)
17th C Token
Royal Farthing

Sewage Site:
Medieval Buckle
Ed II Farthing
Charles I Halfpenny

those hammered coins are tiny. I'm guessing they can produce a very faint signal to listen for when they're very deep

I very nice collection of finds, as always. I'm surprised at the tiny size of those two hammered coins. The US penny as a comparison piece speaks volumes. Congrats!

Two nice hammereds Cru! Looks like your eyes are sighted in on flint now!

These came up after a deep plough, any more than a couple of inches & they will not be heard.

Yeap, thought it was another arrowhead to start with.

I did a double-take at two coins in the diameter of a Lincoln penny. Is it the same flower on both sides of the Charles I? No bust?

Correct, rose both sides, no legend. Pretty unusual hammered coin for England.

That site just gives and gives, some nice bits Crusader [emoji106]

Very Nice!!!! Congrats!!!!

Nicely done on the two silvers. Congrats
The button in the first from left photo with the quilted pattern looks like a gold wash-any maker or age to it?

It's a 1 piece gold plated button with no backmark at all. kind of odd for a quality button like that, it was a screaming signal & I was thinking hammered!

Cru - Nice digs! How about that 2 & 1/2" gold figurine that appears to have come from the crown of King Henry VIII? That would be a good day of detecting!

Yes only a 2 million pound good day...lol
Shows it's out there.
I'm just happy growing the collection & getting coins/items I've never found before. Thats what keeps me going.

Those hammered would make my year

Well, personally, I like the Mystery Medieval Thingy. Um, which one is it? :tongue3:

You have got to have some pretty good equipment and eyes to find those tiny coins. Good for you guys! Keep up the great finds!

It's the long thin bit at the top of picture 2.

The XP machines have a reputation as Hammered Hoovers, & yes my eyes still work good.
