Shaun7's Celtic Gold Field - Day 1...
Unusually for me, the plan to continue the hunt on the No.1 Field changed. I wanted to explore the field that Shaun7 got his Gold Celtic Coin, but as I was wandering I realised that the very wet conditions might make it worth trying over the Gold Spot again. We did this area very quickly whilst being chased by a tractor & on freshly turned soil, so the odds had improved. I was going to grid the area that the Gold was found & then move back to the No.1 Field (next door). Problem was Roman Coins were popping up everywhere & I soon started wishing for a Roman Silver
(9 hours baking
on my own)
The results shocked me, as I got as many Roman Coins in 1 day, as the whole of last year (from this field)
21 Roman Coins
6 Lead Tokens
Royal & Rose Farthing
17th C Token
Large 17th C Button
Crotal Bell - Rings nicely
2 Cloth Seals
3 Medieval Leather Mounts
1 bent Tudor Book Clasp
Nice buckle of a type I have never had complete
(I think 17th C, but will need to check)
Georgian Coin Weight
Fragment of Roman Silver Ring
Roman Pinhead
Plain Bronze Roman Ring
Military shoulder badge (new type for me)
3 Hammered;
James I 1613 Halfgroat
Henry III cut Half
Edward III Farthing (see other post)
