As you know I’ve been courting this 1820s property now for about six months. The other guy left her after 15 years of detecting her and had showed me the wonderful treasures he has gotten 1812 buttons, old silver just incredible relax and finds. Well when I started dating her she gave it up quick that is where I got my two silver half times and my one real I was on top of the world I fell in love immediately. The ex told me the only thing he hasn’t gotten from the old girl was what I found so I was proud. Well after that she would let me come over whenever I want it but all I did was hard labor picking out all her iron and cleaning out our yard I was ready to break up with her. But today she must of felt sorry for me and I got the best lead I’ve ever had. I believe it to be .56 call but it’s deferent then all the other lead I have gotten. It’s shorter and sharper but it’s truly amazing. She’s still got it and I love her ♥️ B2AC7AA6-9B5B-4D7C-80A7-56EC1E64044F.webp76BDD190-A0DC-4143-8684-E85C1C4B6EC0.webpA14B211C-A774-4320-BE7B-5214C6E2D46C.webpE2189B71-4B8A-4203-8CDC-82EB1D831B2A.webpCEB93ED0-099B-4453-BC93-1E9582AB86E3.webp Yep those doubloons still break hearts 0EFF2090-9A86-4FFA-8B51-1C5B8D53B948.webp8319D97B-857E-4446-8E2F-5A44EA2C7E7A.webpFD00F4EC-5FBA-468E-949D-EB1445A3DA57.webpA iron factory 235C06E3-9F59-405F-A3C0-FEACAAF6EEDE.webpIMG_0012.webp

Thanks Davers I appreciate that.

Great bullet man! Keep cleaning her up and after you dust her off you may find even more things about her to rekindle the relationship. If not, then post her address here so she can see how bad other fellas can be, throwing trash back at her and leaving empty holes hahaha

No not given up on this old gal yet I think she still has a lot to offer I just have to hit that right spot.

Aaahh Truth! Fortune can indeed be a fickle lover!

She's at least flirting wi yah! new equipment, new tactics, you'll do fine. Give some of that iron a thorough cleaning before re-consigning it. Might be a surprise there!

Great finds and good luck.

Nice going Truth!!! Always love the lead!!!

I’m working that iron hard end it does start to where you down, but realizing after that some of my best finds have been after I’ve already pin pointed many of pieces of rust out of my hole and cleaning it up and that’s exactly what happen when I found this bullet at the bottom. I cover the hole up after every piece of anything is out I never assume it’s another nail. Get it out.

The old hand wrought Iron naturally contained a good bit of copper. That's how it can stay in the ground a really long time without completely deteriorating. That's also why it rings so loud.

Look at the little Swedish girl that found that 1,300 year old Viking sword in a lake. Fabulous!

Is that why it gives off those hi tone falsings?

Your skills at treasure hunting are top shelf,, but secondary to your writing skills.
Congratulations on your finds.

In a word yes! But steel made by the Bessemer process (about everything commercially made since 1900) doesn't contain much copper because the blast furnace effect burns out all the metals with lower melting points. After the steel undergoes the Bessemer process then it can be alloyed in a controlled method that guarantees the alloy content and the desired properties. Bear in
mind though that in the rural areas of this country there were many blacksmiths up until WW2 or the fifties. They all had scrap piles "out back" that often contained hand wrought Iron. By WW2 most of those old artisans were dying of black lung. In my county every scrap and auto salvage yard had a rail siding that allowed them ready access to ship the metal they had collected. Citizens were asked to contribute scrap metal products of any kind and vintage to the war effort. My grandfather used to tell me stories of the Civil War cannon and other vintage arms and tools and whole automobiles that went to the war effort.

Now run with that Truth and good luck!
