Hunted the small overgrown front yard of a Colonial-era house, still not finding anything amazing (V nickel, Buffalo, Uncas ring, handful of wheats). There was an area of deer or rabbit pellets that I kind of avoided, but after returning for a mop-up sweep (targets, not the pellets
) I of course got a broken signal at around 18 on the 800 right there under the load
. First IHC from the property with two nails in the hole as well. It was terribly crusted not even revealing the date or any detail, other than a hint at the wreath, at all.
A quick bath in hot peroxide and a scrubbing with some Colgate toothpaste and she looks great! Amazing how some of the older IHCs hold up so well with minimal pitting. This is my second 1864 in two weeks. Nothing great but I thought the story was funny (apologies to my friends from Cleveland
).
