I found this 3.7 inch shell fragment in the Tampa area. It caught my attention because I am not used to seeing a shell break in this fashion. I see what may be human intervention (knapping?) marks on both edges of the external shell. This item was found in an area containing obvious Indian source rock and pre-forms...possibly some actual tool-making because of the small chips I saw.
