SHENANGO CHINA

[SHERMANVILLE ILLINOIS]

Out to the wood early this morning. Ground was still frozen so
I decided to do some scouting for bottle dumps to open this
spring.

Came across this coffee cup, half buried in the frozen ground.

Not sure if it was in one piece, used a knife to slice away the
frozen soil.

Came out in perfect shape.

Cool Sherm. Many a time a prayer has gone unanswered like "please let this be intact!" Clean 'er up and enjoy. Tried to find out a date of the logo. Would guess 20's to 50's.

Great find...I love Shenango dinnerware because its heavy and solid...alot of it was made for the railroad.....Maybe you will find a entire set!!!!

that's what I love about the hobby, takes you in so
many different directions.

I don't know squat about china, but now I'm learning
about it on the web.

Had a good day in the woods, watched the deer, picked
myself up a coffee cup, and now have a bit of knowledge
of Shenango china.

Nice find. I've sold Shenango on ebay and it brings a good price. There are a lot of collectors out there.
