She's wore pretty flat
With DigginGirl at camp, I decided to take a half day off of work before she comes home tomorrow. Have my eye on some church property outside of Upperville, Virginia. I pass it on my way home. I got permission to hunt it last week. There is no building anymore, just a little pile of rubble.
Wasn't there swingin with the Cibola very long and I heard a rumble. Took off my headphones and waited for the next one, but didn't hear any more. Hunted a little more and got a smooth signal. About 5 inches down I found a round thing, looked like a coin, but couldn't tell. Put in in my pouch and continued on. Within 5 minutes there was a loud rumble. I decided to get out of this open field.
Got home and emptied my pouch. Didn't think anything about it, so I washed the disc under the faucet of the sink. To my surprise the numbers 1819 came into view. It's a Large Cent!! I haven't found one in years. It being almost 200 years old is just icing on the cake.
To be sure, I will hit that field again this weekend. Weather is supposed to be awesome!!
This is a scan of it. Doesn't look to good unless it's wet.
