What's the best way to ship something that is already in the manufacturer's good and sturdy box?

I have been putting it inside another box, but now I'm wondering why. The manufacturer's box is designed to be shipped.

What do I wrap it in, I guess is my question. Paper? What do other people do?

Thanks!

I double box everything, because with a lot of vintage stuff I sell, the box is worth as much as the item. Ya some times it makes shipping more difficult than it needs to be, but that is just how I do it.

If it's in a box that is fit to ship it in, I ship in it unless it's a box that needs to be pristine. Slap a label on it and let it rip.

I agree with 2ndisbest. Always preserve and protect an original vintage box. That is part of the value of the item. But, most retail boxes are not meant to be shipped and aren't rugged enough. If there is retail pictures on the box, it most likely came on a pallet and wrapped. Not shipped by itself. Do what you need to do to protect the item inside.

Depends on what the item is. If it's something that could POSSIBLY be collectable, then definitely double box it. If it's something that's just a product (a water filter, etc) then I will ship in just the box itself. When in doubt ... double box!

Thanks everyone!

I thought I had something to say, but reconsidered. Couldn't figure out how to completely delete my post.
