shoe buckle fragment

Got out for a couple hours today with JF to search for relics. We actually have a good spot to request a permission on a return visit.

My one and only relic today is this piece of what I think is a show buckle fragment.


From research it appears this is an 18th century artois buckle.
I found two online examples, one of which was dug in the Yorktown/Williamsburg area: .

Here is an example of similar style but made of pewter .

Yes, that is exactly what it is. Whole ones are near impossible to find.

I have one complete frame in that style. Not an easy find. One of the bonuses of hunting secluded sites in the forest with no plows
