I went for another visit to the old hotel site that’s been still producing well. Targets are getting way harder to find now but there was a super low tide so I spent most of my time there below the tide line. The best finds of the day were six silver coins, a little dog charm and a nice older 10k birks gold ring. I kept thinking that spot had to have a nice piece of jewelry around somewhere with all the activity and finds. The ring has the initials MSV which I believe may possibly stand for mount Saint Vincent. It’s a university established in 1873. Later the initials were changed to MSVU. Birks is a Canadian jewelry company founded in 1879. The ring has a woman’s first and last name inscribed inside the band. I will do my best to see if I can find any information to track down any owner or descendants. First (and possibly last) gold of the year felt great. Thanks for looking! 😁👍

Nice finds. I hope to find a good site like that one day.

Great spot you've got there. Those are some great finds. Looking forward to seeing your updates on the ring.

That ring is a beauty!! Gotta like, silver and gold and relics in one hunt!! Well played and thanks for posting

Great hunt! Bonus points for sniffing out that fish scale....they are so, so small!

A cool update for the old MSV gold ring I found recently. I was almost certain it had to be a mount Saint Vincent university ring so I took a shot and inquired about it by email to the university with photos included. I received a reply and the women said she will share it with her colleagues to see if anyone knows anything about it. I wasn’t sure if it would go any further but today I received a good response from another women. It is indeed a ring from the university and Birks also did make the school rings at one time. Apparently it’s from the 1930’s. They have matching ring designs to mine in their database but all have a year included on the ring itself. So this one is a little more mysterious with no year. The university did use the initials when it was a college before becoming a university in 1966. Now that I have confirmation I replied that it also has a full name inscribed in the inside of the band and now shared it with them. With any luck they may have some records with a name associated from that era that could possibly match and them I may find a family member or something. I will keep posting updates if and when they come in. 😁👍
