Had just a few hours to hunt as I had a small window between storms. Found several nice goodies. Got two Eagle "I" cuff buttons, a button back, three brass shells, rivet, friction primer, piece of a bayonet, shell frag and what I think may be a scabbard tip. Need help on that one. I think my best find was a General Service Staff cuff button. When I dug it the shank was up and when I recovered and turn over I could have swore it was a CS button as it was a dome button unlike the Eagle buttons. So during my excitement I made a rookie mistake. I tried to clean to see if the wings were facing down. That is when a piece of the rim came apart. I stopped right there and put it in my padded case. I usually don't clean in the field but the excitement got to me. The area was a Confederate cannon placement and an 1850's college. With the rain fast approaching I headed for home.

Hey, chances are a piece of the rim would have come off regardless treasurehound. Nice finds and thanks for sharing...

We too have received lots of rain Randy (5.8" at my house) since Thursday. Glad you got out and made some nice finds my friend. HH, Q.

looks like a scabbard tip to me! great saves!

Thanks Quindy. We have hunted this site before but after the rain the button signals were loud and clear. The ground is extremely hot with all the old red bricks from the college. Reminded me a lot of hunting DIV. I hope we can get back there again before long while the ground is still great to dig in. I was using my TDI and all I was listening for was the brass signals. Two others were hunting with me. One was using a TDI as well but his switch broke and it was giving him fits. He did find some brass. The other was using an F75 (your favorite..lol) and he was digging a lot of trash but did manage a very nice dropped three ringer.

Yeah I figured that out. It was pretty brittle. Luckily I saved all of the pieces. One of the reasons I hate cleaning in the field but I was hoping it was CS as it was a dome button and was on a Confederate site.

Good to see your success. Keep it up.

Thanks Reb. One of my best Tennessee hunts in a while and it was only for three hours. Can't wait to go back. What part of TN are you and are you a SCV member? Your avatar looks like you might be.
