Went to TD today because last week the teller said she would make a few calls. She spoke to the district manager and they said unless the credit comes from Garda , the money can not be refunded. They said if they receive a credit in the near future they will try to help me out. I asked them were the money go,s when its lost , they said that they have no idea. i said it must go somewhere, they just had no answer. HH to all. I did 5/ boxes this week for 12/ 40s and 1 / 90.

This makes me scared to do Coin Lock bags.

no offense but I wouldn't rely on the teller or branch manager to be making calls on your behalf for $375. You should take the ball into your own hand and get all over them and deal directly with the branch manager and DM.

If they are not helpful then you need to file a complaint with the OCC against the bank.

odd , over here in the tri state area i have had 100% luck getting my shorts refunded, of course i no longer use them for dimes and havnt had an incident since.

I know when BoA sends bags in the processor weighs them. If they are within a certain percentage they credit the full amount.

A similar thing happened to me regarding TD & Garda. I deposited 3 large bags of halves with TD that were to go to Garda to be counted and then credited to my account. That branch said that did not want me to run them through their coin machine, because, they claim, the halfs were causing the machine to break down. I said ok, and they gave me a numbered receipt for each bag.

After 3 weeks, nothing had been credited to my account. I went to the Branch, they said they would look into it, but nothing happened. Over the next several weeks, I did the same, with the same results. I was beginning to see that the staff and Manager at this branch were not very competent. The Bag receipts they gave me were worthless, since neither TD or Garda records or tracks those numbers. I then talked to the Manager at another TD Bank who spent a lot of time contacting Garda and the other Branch to find out what happened. It seems that the other Branch, in deed, did not know what they were doing, and had turned the coins into Garda without following proper procedures. Garda essentially processed (counted) the coins, but had no idea which TD Branch they came from. After nearly 3 months they were able to track down and credit my account approx $1500. I am fairly sure I gave them over $2000 in halfs.

I can't see how TD can get away with such careless incompetence as you guys are describing. I'm sure glad I don't bank with them. And after hearing these types of problems it makes me even more reluctant to ever try/trust using coin lock bags for dumping.

Good luck & HH

They have a lot of branches and are open 7 days a week. They are also the only bank in my area that has coin machines that will take large volumes of halfs and other coins. Their coin machines also reject silver coins (just in case you missed one) They hire a lot of young, inexperienced people to fill the many personnel slots they have. It looks like they may promote from within to fill the Branch Manager position. It does not appear that the quality of training is consistent. Some branches are run very well and provide very good customer services, others do not. I have had enough negative experiences with individuals at some of their branches that I would not want to do my primary banking with them, especially having them do a major finance.
