Got out for a short 1 & 1/2 hr hunt in east Tenn this past Saturday. The site I hunted was a small (50' X 50') spot I found in October that has produced 10 .54 caliber Greene Enfields, a handful of Smith Carbines and a bugle mouthpiece. Since finding the spot I have vaccumed it...last couple of hunts produced nothing. A dealer loaned me a Garrett AT Gold to try out its all metal mode...I used it and had my dad use my G2 with Ultimate coil to check any signals I got with the Garrett. Two signals in AM with the AT Gold that the G2 couldnt see at all produced a piece of melted lead , and...a Civil War bullet first for me, a .44 caliber Ballard! Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Nice bullet to dig. Good for you! I would check any surrounding lands that I could.

Nice finds! Thanks for sharing...

It's hard to say which is prettier: the white of an old bullet or emerald of an old copper. Very nice find. Congrats!

There is a Union camp a couple hundred yards away acroos a road...found this spot as a result of branching out from the main camp.

Thanks for the kind comments guys! Civil War bullets (even rare ones) dont seem to get much attention on forums.

Cool finds, keep at it. HH....

pretty darn nice, so the AT GOLD did okay, how deep was it?
