[TD]Got permission on an old farm just two miles from home. Dug a real nice 1905 Indian, some clad, some misc items but also uncovered something cool while digging a penny. I dug a Petoskey stone. (The following is for out of staters) It's a type of fossilized coral. Most are found 260 miles north of me in Lake MI near the town of Petoskey. They are our state stone, and it is pretty rare to uncover one in the dirt. I do know a guy that dug some while digging a pond about 6 miles from me. A true Michigan treasure.

Mike, nice finds, Congrats! Ya, I wouldn't expect to find a Petoskey stone down here either!

Great finds! All tilted to the left!

Yeh, thats really odd. I thought they were along the northwest shoreline, I never saw one down home.

But I guess there ain't no reason they CAN'T be down there, seems like that body of water covered the whole state back when the rocks were being made.

I find a ton here in the Muskegon area

Nice digs Mike! That Indian is a beauty! WTG

Nice stone great find you did very well congrats

Nice finds Mike! Love that greenie injun! That Petoskey stone definitely steals the show! WTG!

Nice find on the petoskey stone, Mike. Have you polished it yet? The glaciers moved lots of rocks around in the state. (I didn't witness it personally, just saying.) :laughing7:
