Hey guys,

Weather in SC is pretty amazing for December...75 and sunny for you poor souls up north...so I couldn't resist a shoreline coastal hunt at one of my go to spots. I have pulled dozens of buttons from the site and recent erosion revealed a few more goodies. Among the digs were 3 copper flat buttons, a large tomac, domed white metal, and a promising pewter. Unfortunately there is to much corrosion on the surface to definitively connect it to a Rev War military unit.

Also dug a heavy brass hook and a curious KG sized lead disk. Perhaps a poker chip or scale weight...? Eyeballed this pottery shard as well.

Thanks for looking

Nice hunt and cool buttons. What do you think the brass hook was?

Well done my man. Glad that you were able to slip out for a little hunt in the nice weather.

Nice haul Jon! The brass hook is very interesting. This weather has been great. Got out a bit this past weekend with my bud jdsly but unfortunately didn't find anything worth posting. Working on some new permissions though and hope to get you up here for a hunt soon. Thanks and as always enjoy your posts!

Very nice hunt
The brass hook has me stumped.
Cool that your pottery find has a picture of a woman on it.

Thanks for commenting Darby,

I'll be back in SC on the 14th, hopefully we can link up after that.

O7 NEEET POTTERY SHERD . BRASS HOOK LOOKS LIKE A TURTLE HOOK ....

Nice finds . I really like the hook and pottery, and the buttons are nice too.

Thanks picker, modest finds but anytime a pewter comes out of the ground I have to hold my breath...never know if it could be the next Rev War regimental button.

75 degrees and sunny hey? I admit I'm jealous haha! However I can't really complain- it's only -5 (23F), it's ridiculously warm, very strange. Last year here on Dec 1st it was -41 (-41.8F).

The little hook is interesting, and hopefully you can get something off the lead disk. Also liking the pottery with the cool image on it. Looks like a promising site!

Would be tickled pink with any of those finds as well as the warm SC weather.
