Greetings from Indiana! First post, hopefully more to come as I get more areas to detect. Bought an antique Metal Detector for 20, one I've seen online but haven't seen one with a shoulder strap like this one. Google was of no help to me, anyone got an idea when this shoulder strap version was made?

Looks like an early 80's Bounty Hunter, and from the pics it appears
to be in great shape..:occasion14:

The shoulder strap set-up was probably an aftermarket add-on. They
were fairly popular back then because the detectors got to be fairly heavy
after a while. For some machines back then, having a longer shaft allowed
the user to swing the coil faster and cover more ground.

So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Exactly what Dizzy said. These were often sold as hip-mount kits. I bought one for my heavy early 1980's Garrett Master Hunter. They usually required drilling small holes to attach the brackets to which one clipped in the strap.
