Depends on where and what you are digging. I have one, used it for about 6 months, but for me it was a pain. I was using it in parks, I now use the lesche, which is better for parks and shallow digging. Around the house and prospecting I use the good old #2 which moves more dirt.

Is there any place you can hold a 32 inch before you buy one ?

For reference, I'm 6' tall, and I use an Excalibur XLD, they're 40" overall. I don't like bending over too far to dig though, and I think I had an extra 2" put on, but I'd have to check.

Maybe a hardwire store. The main reason I said a 32" is because I don't CARRY a shovel, I put it on a carrier on my pants belt. I am taller than you and my 31" shovel doesn't drag the ground.

I just never hand carry a shovel. It feels obvious by on-lookers to me.

I am 5 ft. 4' also and I use a 32' shovel. This works for me.
