I was at the beach a couple days ago an i was about to throw away all my trash in the trash can.An a Friend asked me for all my pulltabs.I asked him why.He said he was saving them for the kids.I thought he was talking about his grandkids. But he told me that the Shriner's will take them .They cash them in to buy the little ones wheel chairs an other stuff. Now when i find a pulltab its a good find. Now i just throw them in a 5 gall.bucket in the back of my Bronco. :occasion14:

Rick,

I'll be giving you mine to pass along. Good idea that helps.

Take care buddy.

I've been saving mine from the very beginning. My club saves them for a couple of different charities and I figure that when I find them it is not such a let down. I am doing something good with them. WTG Cotton!

I will start saving mine!

Darrell

I think I will take up this challenge too, and keep a milk jug in my truck and throw all my tabs in it and when its full I will send it to ??? Chi can you get us an address if some of us want to collect these and mail them in somewhere.

I hate to be a jerk...but this has been going around for a while on the internet.

Yeah, the Shriner's will redeem them, but even then, it is only for the aluminum recycle value. Better to keep ANY aluminum junk, and copper, brass, etc (I have found more than a couple brass faucets) take them to a recycler, and then use that money to give to your favorite charity.

Not to be Machiavellian, but said donation is still tax deductible.

Lidralabsoldier-Thanks for the input. But i think i will still give mine to my buddy an he can take them. Its still a lot better than throwing them in the trash.Just my input.......................Cotton

I agree with that, nonetheless. I am just saying that maybe along with the pull tabs you include the can slaw as well...every little bit helps!

Good to know someone is watching out for us. Wouldn't want to be coned by those crazy Shriner's in there funny hat's.
In the mean time I will continue to Parade and volunteer at my Shrine Hospital. And save tabs just like
all you well meaning people

Nah, it isnt that. I do not think anyone is trying to con anyone...it is just one of those internet hoaxes that refuses to die, like the email beta testing where microsoft sends you a check for ten grand, etc.

Since we're on the topic of pulltabs...

I've been toying with the idea of partnering with a jeweler friend and making 10K pulltabs as a novelty item for metal detectors. Am I nuts or do ya'll think I could sell a few?

I have 3 buckets outside that I throw all my trash into. 1 bucket for alumin next bucket for metal and the 3rd bucket is for copper and brass. Then at the end of the year I take it all in and sell it to see how much cash I get for my trash. Just like digging up money. A bury treasure.....Matt

I know several people that do that with brass and copper and they make a nice little chunk when they sell it.

When there is a war on copper and brass always goes through the roof. With the "runs" on civilian ammunition as well, it has pushed copper and brass that much higher.
