Went back to the school that gave up a 25-s Merc. There is very little lawn around the school and the playground/ball field is across the street. The neighborhood is easily 1920's. Looked at some old sidewalks behind the ball field and decided to give it a ago. Found several early 60-70's pennies so it was promising. Later found the whats left of a blue 1969 tootsie pickup truck, a few feet away an old Berkeley Windproof lighter made by a flashlight company. It was Zippos competition back in the 40s-50s. Then found unexpectedly the 45-s Merc very dirty, near the surface 3 inches down. Definitely will start looking for old sidewalk strips from now on.

Cool finds, good thinking!

Nice, sidewalk strips are my favorite in town hunting areas.

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with this snowbound northern boy

I have had good luck with curb strips including my avatar photo.

I've not hunted a whole bunch of curb strips I guess because I've not had much success. But the more I read on here about hunting them the more I think I should give them more of a chance. Excellent finding the mercury dime!

It payed you in silver to look there! Nice finds!
