Found this in a old field surrounded by stone walls. It was near an old apple tree and was about 5" down. Some canadian large one cent coins in the field as well and lots of old ox shoes.

Nice finds! Must be cold digging those coins up there! Keep up the good work.

It's great you're getting out and able to dig, for many if us that's not yet possible. Nice finds!

Very nice! She's in great shape!

Thanks for looking. It's a rough winter up here in Nova Scotia. I had a three day thaw now it's back to frozen ground but I hunt year round if I can. Some of my best finds ever were during the winters. I can't wait till spring. It's the best for detecting here because there is no bugs, it's not too hot or cold and most of all the grass and bushes don't grow in. I can hunt spots that are near impossible to do in the summer. (:

Nice coins...........beautiful condition!!!

Nice Dig's !!! here in Tioga County New York it's Cucking Fold and the ground is Solid even in the Sunniest of spots. Last year when I first got My Garrett Ace 350 I hit a strong silver spot and broke My hand trowel trying to get to it. I went back the next day with a Big Garden shovel w/ a point and got it out :) It was a Cross Pendant 970 and a makers mark ... I been back several times looking for the chain it was on but no luck ...Getting the "Fever" reading all the posts here about GOLD!!! H.H. PEACE Garry Paul

The ground is hard here too. If it's not to deep frozen the ground is usually soft underneath and a hatchet works wonders for the hard layer. Just make a square hole with it. Just don't do it anywhere that matters because it makes a ugly filled in hole when your done. Save the yards and other peoples property that matters for when the big thaw comes! (:
