I wonder if the rings weren't mood rings they kind of look like them. The one with stone and the one without.

Might be, the mood ring I remember from the 1970s had huge oval stones about the size of a nickel. Come to think of it, I rarely see them posted. They were all the rage at the time, just like Duncan yo-yo’s and those crazy clacker balls.
