SILVER Bug Earrings - bone, ivory, bakelite?

Love, love, LOVE these earrings. Paid $0.50 for the pair at a yard sale this weekend.

Wore them today.

These will stay in my personal collection, but I'm trying to figure out what the "fan" portion of the earring is made from. They are fairly heavy and have a yellow-ish hue.

Any opinions on the age, designer, composition,

Only clue I have is the SILVER stamped posts.
