The day started out at a place my buddy and I like to hunt, it always produces something worth taking home.
2 1/2 hours into our 4 hour day, and all I found was a silverwear grave yard, unfortunatley it was silver plate.
as we stop to drink and throw in another mouthfull of sunflower seeds, my buddy starts to show me his finds,
2 small sterling pendants and a 1929 merc.
I was frustrated, contemplating selling my detector, becomming a monk and live the rest of my days making Frangelico.
Instead I threw my headphones back on and began to swing.
The MD'ing gods began to smile on me.
Within 5 minutes of me swinging again... 1920 merc WOOHOO

Then a legless soldier in the same hole!!! " MEDIC I NEED A MEDIC STAT"

The the MD'ing gods touched me ever so gently, and as I was digging what I thought to be a Buffalo Nickle...
POOF
The proverbial gold ring...PRECIOUS

all in all, turned out to be a great day

That ring looks old. Nice soldier as well...

Super finds! Beats monkdom any day, I'd say?

Those are some funky marks on that ring--could you show us a straight-on shot of the markings?

Looks like he took a Grenade :D

Nice Finds !

Nice finds! Quit gawking at the ring and call a medic for that poor trooper! ;D ;D

As posted in the thread "Well I know what it is BUT... ":

18K gold.

Anchor = Birmingham, England.

Date letter appears to be an l (lower case L), and if so that would indicate 1910-11.

Will try to ID the maker, "E & W," later. However, you can probably Google it.

WOW!! Beautiful ring,
18Kt to boot, excellent find.
Nice stones too, maybe saffires.

Congrats!
