Silver Hand-Engraved Button? Age??

Found this piece in New Jersey a few days ago. 99.99% sure it's silver (but I haven't tested it). No hallmarks or other markings. Front design looks hand-engraved. Can anyone provide what it may have been used for, and/or an estimate on its age?

Yes. Late 19th - early 20th C lapel button. It's a beauty, too!

It goes in the "flower hole" on the lapel of your suit.
