Congrats. It's always nice to find silver. Especially seated silver!

sweet! really cool find. congrats!

dont see many of those found! nice coin! i dont know if you have tried this, but you could soak it in hot hydrogen peroxide for a bit. just heat the peroxide up in the microwave and plop the coin in. it peels off all kinds of junk without hurting the value of the coin.

As Always...Love Silver! Even more when it's a seated...:icon_thumright:

Looks like 1877 to me. Great find!

Your first Seated is a Half?
Way to go, mine was an 1877-CC dime, took years to get another one.
Hate to say it, but we've dug them where the only way to see anything is to use steel wool.
Obviously when they don't have any numismatic value.

That's a awesome find, Seated have been on my list for a while but just haven't got there yet but it will happen.... Congrats! If you want to clean it I would line a bowel with alui foil hot water and some ARM & Hammer supper Washing Soda , make sure the coin has good contact with the foil. Then use a little baking soda, make it into a paste and rub the coin between your figures.

i just use a little baking soda and water on my corroded silver and then use some silver jewelry polish. Hope it cleans up, great find!

I second the baking soda and distilled water finger rub. I have even gone so far as to put a solution of dist/baking soda in my ultrasonic cleaner and let it run a few cycles, but nothing more. For fine polish on silver and gold I use MAAS metal polish. You can get it most places, (even Wal-Mart) in the cleaning isle. Comes in tube like toothpaste and you put a dab on a clean cotton T-shirt and do the rub. Rub a bit and then wipe it with a clean section of the shirt and it should shine like nobody's business. If you have a motorcycle it even takes out the spider web fine scratches you get in your windshield fairing! Congrats on your find!

Thanks for all the replies !!!!!! I tried the boiling peroxide. It barely touched it,gonna try the aluminum foil & baking soda next. Still grinnin from ear to ear !!!
