This morning was very slow at the silver farm; I started out quick, with a clad quarter, and knew that a buck was going to be easy. My second coin was this 63D Rosey; I didn't find anything else until late when two wheats popped up. Very strange for this place; hmmm. This afternoon, late, I went next door to see what I could see... I was rewarded by this 18_8 Indian, a token that says "Duquesne IND BRG CO around the outside and "5 C.G.S." on the circle in the middle. I assume it's a token, but I'll need help with ID. My father-in-law may be of some assistance here. I also managed a 19 wheat, but fell short of my dollar goal for the day. I'm okay with that now, since I dig for age primarily; if the modern volume follows, great. At least none of the pennies were Memorial! Ended with .72 :-\, but the token covers the difference! Rationalization is everything.

Hey, looks like a dollar to me... ;) Nice finds there!

That's the way to rationalize. I'd take oldies over the modern any day! Nice going and congrats on the cool finds.

Nice got to love them Indian's and Silver to Boot :)
what I call I good day.. I have only found 3 indians in Florida..

On further review, the Jefferson nickel I found today was a 42 pre-war. I also rolled 50 silver Roseys for trade at a local coin dealer and I should pass the $300 mark tomorrow (since July 21, 2004). The XLT is almost 1/3 paid for!

No goal, but nice finds none the less, congrats RF!! Best of luck to you, a few good days and you'll have it paid off!

Smiles!

I am still looking for that token. All I've found out so far is it is an Indiana Brewing Co. token. Have a good one!

I think there was a Duquesne beer, certainly a Duke beer. Maybe related.

Danglangley put me on the right track; this might be for Duquesne Independent Brewing Company. This was one of the prominent breweries in Pittsburgh into the 70's.

Henry, you need to get a life and a new goal! ;D What is with the dollar goal? You should have a goal of at least one "keeper" each time you go out. By that standard you more than doubled your goal. :)

It sounds like some further explanations are in order here! My life is watching our five and seven year olds, which means they usually go detecting with me (can you imagine doyboy having to do that?). My two stated goals are silver, which qualifies as a keeper, and a dollar in face each time out. Because of the proliferation of silver at the silver farm, this is realistic. And since the cottages are still in use, there is clad. The latter goal helps me limit the duration of each hunt; my preference would be dawn to dusk! ;D Once we have silver, and a dollar, we can go home. It usually works out well, timewise. This does not mean that if, on my first hole this morning, I find a Morgan, we're going home! My third, so far unstated goal, is that both children come home alive from each hunt ::). Anything else we find is a bonus. I try only to hunt areas where silver is likely, even more, areas where gold coins are possible. This offers the best chance at keepers. I've done the playground thing, and we have enough public land around that I could go out and pile up the clad, but I'm not into that.

Beautiful finds and I like your fuzzy math ;D

These date-less IH are everywhere!

Keep dggin' that silver,
