This is today's best, and only find other than modern junk. Went on a pasture field that was loaded with green waste the last time it was ploughed, a few years ago. This meant that the field is covered in tin foil and junk, and I mean covered, a signal every 30 seconds. I lasted about one hour before I threw in the towel. Like this find though, made of silver, and showing a rampant lion. The lion is very well executed, and would have been red enameled, can just see traces left. At first I thought it was modern, not so sure now.

Robert.

Thats a super nice find. Well worth dealing with the trash. Congratulations.

Incredible find ! could you please put up a pic of the reverse ? I think it's at least Victorian .(no hallmarks ?)

Nice silver find! Is it a broach?

looking at the shape, I would guess 19th C, cool looking piece. Not sure what it was mount on, but might be a cane/walking stick??

Hi Cru, yes maybe 18th/19th Century. In a plastic bag now, bit sad really, what to do with these things ?.

put them with the other silver bits & bobs. If good enough, I may do local displays with bits like this. For the most part, its stored away safely.

very interesting piece.

That would look nice on a beautiful darker wooden box - Cigar box top , or your favorite silver finds box .

With no attachment mechanism it was most likely a decorative inlay on something very nice.
