I think it's just a sterling novelty initial for a key chain. I've seen similar in gift shops. There might be one on ebay but it might not have the same initial. Monty

On the reverse it reads : HOD. GA DEP. and below that 925 546VI

How sure are you about the lettering on the back? what you say is HOD looks like hCO or kCO to me..
maybe its just the picture..??

I agree with monty looks like a keychain thingy.

cheers

The height just about matches the diameter of a quarter, but the small hole for attachment extends above that diameter.

The H of HOD could be an M or an N, but it is not a k or an h.

Rang just like a quarter on the XLT about 3" down.

It interests me because it is silver - 925.

Could be part of a keychain, but with it found in a schoolyard, it could also have been used as a zipper pull. ??

I don't think someone would use 925 silver for a zipper pull, but who knows? I thought that maybe with the nice enameled E (such as 'Erica')on the front it would be for a girl's necklace, but I don't know about that either.

Thanks for your replies

It looks kinda like a high school charm. Sorta like the charms they called class keys. Just a guess.

It may be a school charm but I don't think it's a class key. Somewhere's put up is mine but it's styled and shaped like these.
