Found this scratching around an old foundation on our property. Seems to have some silver plating flaking off and I believe it may be copper or brass. Not sure if I should sand on it lightly to verify the metal? I want to believe it is a bell of some sort but I am really clueless. Thanks for any input.

That is one wicked looking wolf. Very cool find. I would not sand it as it is probably brass and has a nice patina on it as is.
