I met up with Greg (CanYouDigIt) today at a site he got permission to detect. All was quiet until we hit a trough that was washed out from the recent rains. I got a bunch of Wheaties, a 1944 Mercury Dime and some other goodies, but my find of the day was when I eyeballed the silver plated US Air Force button sticking out of the sand. It may not be my best button, but it is a welcome addition to my button collection. No day of detecting is complete for me without finding at least one button!
The backmark is not in the Albert's book but it is a variation of AF1A. This backmark reads "WATERBURY BUTTON COMPANIES, INC."
