Getting caught up on posts for some of my other finds from the summer and fall. Found my first silver pocket watch...can't believe how heavy it is! It says "coin silver" on the inside and I think the case is Elgin, but I still need to officially ID and date it. One of my other favorite finds was the silver ring and skeleton key in the same hole. Wouldn't you love to know the circumstances of that drop? Here is the link to my YouTube slideshow (including of course my previously posted Spanish 8R) if you would like to see more:

Thanks for looking, and good luck out there everyone!

These are some awesome finds, congratulations!

You have really nice finds. That Spanish coin is something else, wow.

The key and ring from the same hole really makes you wonder. Whoever lost those two items had a really bad day!

Thanks for sharing and good luck sir.

Thanks! Side note, I always try to make it clear in my posts that I did NOT find all this stuff in one hunt. I tend to wait until I have a bunch of stuff worth posting and then put it all up at once.

Congrats on all your finds.
Coin Silver is 90% Silver. Most silversmiths switched over to the European Sterling purity (92.5 %), in the late 1880's. Elgin was in buisness from 1865 until 1964. Serial numbers and/or dates are usually found on the inside of the watch backplate.
