Yesterday when I was coin roll hunting I found a silver mint mark d Wyoming state quarter 8-)in the quarter and I couldn't hardly believe my eyes when I saw it.:headbang: Looks like its brand new. Please share any info that you have or questions you have about this quarter. Thanks R&C Jensen

If it has a D mintmark, it cannot be silver. Sorry.

Silver proofs have an "S" mintmark only. Yours is plated.

We were thinking it came straight from the mint though.

Like the others said, if it's P or D, then it can't be silver. Only San Francisco mints silver.

It could be:
1) Plated (most likely)
2) Clad layer not showing (it happens)
3) Foreign planchet (rare, but possible! Weight it)

I've collected about a dozen of them from vending machines on my job. If it's really shiny, it's plated by a company that sells them in sets for novice collectors.

Check it with a magnet. If it sticks, its clad. If it doesn't, ya just got luck.

Sincerely, Garoulady
