No, they didn't pay for the gas. Even with the "W"'s I've found, it didn't pay for the gas. Fortunately, I had somewhere else to go on just about all of the trips.

The "W"'s are on Ebay! Also, they are widely scattered. I found on War in the Pacific W today in a box of circulated run of the mill junk quarters. Also did get an Oregon quarter will burn holes on both sides. I can see the stamping on top of the burn holes, so maybe not post mint damage.
