Over the weekend I found a round silver (I think but I can't find any markings) rouge compact. The outside is engraved with a pattern and there appears to be a bit of blue still left in some of the design. There is a miror inside all there except it is broken. Engraved on the back are the words Day Dream Paris New York. Is this old?? Can anyone help with any information???

Thanks everyone!

Don't Have A Clue, I Would Guess 1940's - 1950's. GYPSEY Can Probably Give You Some Info. trk5capt...

Geez its really hard without a picture...Is it engraved at all? Here is a link

I think Day Dream was the color name. Is it blue enamel you are referring to,over silver? Or sterling silver. If its true silver ,you would think it would have a mark.

Silver compacts are worth a tidy little sum, so hopefully yours will be genuine.

Nice Find

Gypsy,

It is all silver coloured (looks like real silver but can't find a mark) It's got a design engraved all over it and in the recessed areas of the engraving you can see the remnants of blue in spots (not enamel, I don't think). I took it to a jeweller and he says he believes it's silver but is stumped with no mark as well.

I will post a picture in the morning.

Thanks for all your help!

Susan
