Today I paid a visit to an unused West End beach at Jones Beach. As the beach has been closed for at least 10 years, I didn't expect to find much. However, they open it for the bass fishermen at this time of the year so I decided to give it a try. After working the wet sand area for 2 hours at low tide, I didn't find anything so I switched to the dry sand. With my DFX I hit on a couple of coins but not much. So I walked along the dune line as I was heading back to the car. I hit on a nice sounding target and I dug it up. It turned out to be a silver starfish pendant that probably fell off of a silver chain, which I did not find. Yes I looked thoroughly. As you can see, it wasn't very big. I photographed it next to a dime to show size.
