We haven't been out in awhile due to other commitments & very few choices left.
However, we had noticed that a parcel of land that had an over-spill for a big development had been handed back to the land-owner. Most of it was far too weed (5ft of weeds). However there was a couple of acres that had a huge earth pile removed & flatted back down, so the weeds/grass was OK to detect.
It's not a field we often do, as it has no sites on it & the random stuff is spread out, but we are pleased to be able to try anywhere at this point.
What I didn't enjoy was the heat & humidity, digging some deep targets in heavy clay that nearly killed me.
Anyways our Silver Streak has ended but I'm still happy with today's results (5 hrs);

4 Roman Coins
Tudor & 17th C Button
Lead Token
My first 32nd Line of infantry French Button. (Can't pin down the date, but I think broadly Napoleonic)
My first 103rd Reg of Foot Button, pretty sure its an 18th C type with a iron shank. Still awaiting a better date if anyone has it?

Still looks like a pretty Good Streak to Me!! Congrats!!!

You really were out in this weather? You're crazy. :notworthy:
The french button, flat type with birdcage shank? Anyway, buttons with the dot on top and without letters were issued Sep. 1803.

Yeap flat with Bird-Cage shank.

Isn't it amazing what you can find in a huge pile of dirt that has been excavated from an old section of land.
I see thousands of years of 'occupational history' saved from development right there.

This one beautiful buckle,
Dave

None of this came from the pile of dirt, or at least very little, as it was all taken away. This just came from the flatten area under it.

PS. Its a Victorian Brooch. (I think, as the scar is not big enough for a buckle, just a pin)

Solver streak may be dead, but the great finds live on! :icon_thumleft:

I dont think in my lifetime ill be able to match your 5 hour hunt lol good job Thanks for sharing
